Do you have several buttons from different loved ones? The Mourning Button is designed in such a way that one button can easily be exchanged for another.
Almost all buttons fit on the onyx of jasper base stone. Each button gives this mourning gem a unique character. It is, therefore, possible to commemorate various deceased with one Mourning Button at appropriate moments.

A loving memorial box for the buttons of today and later on

The buttons that you collect over time can be kept in a stylish black wooden box. They are fastened to the cushion with crystal Swarovski pins. The box thus becomes a tangible memento of all the beloved who have disappeared from your life. It can also take on the character of a family relic by passing it on from generation to generation.

With passe-partouts for portraits of your loved ones

In the lid of the box, there are two passe-partouts for pictures of those to whom the buttons belonged. On delivery, the passe-partouts feature pictures of the pansy, the symbol of remembrance: “You are in my thoughts”. The cover can be used as a photo frame, the two passe-partouts can also be placed separately.

For everyone: worn as a lapel pin, pendant or brooch

The Mourning Button can alternately be worn as a brooch, lapel pin or pendant by exchanging a fastening plate at the back. The pendant comes with a black double-sided velvet band. A separate extension chain is included. The total length can vary from about 44 to 65 cm. The fastening plate for a brooch has two short pins with pin protectors. For use on thicker fabric, for example on the lapel of a jacket, there is an attachment plate with one longer pin. For more information see ‘materials and techniques’.

Do you like to wear something else on the Mourning Button, something that requires a small adjustment? This is usually possible. Here are some examples:

Materials and techniques used

The round base stone, with a diameter of 4cm, weighs about 22 grams. The onyx stone is uniformly black, the jasper is stone-red, often veined. Onyx was already used in mourning clothes in the eighteenth century. These gemstones are known for their supportive effect in case of mourning and grief.

The fastening system on the back is made of black anodised aluminium. It is made with precision engineering to keep the fine screwthread intact for many years. The clamp is made of stainless steel. The box (12.5 x 12.5 x 7.6 cm) is made of black stained alder and handmade. The cushion is reversible and has two colours. At delivery, the onyx Mourning Button is on the red side and the jasper Mourning Button is on the grey side (both other sides are yellow).

With a name on the box

The parlAmore logo is embossed on the lid of the box as standard. Underneath this logo, you can have an additional (family) name engraved. You can choose from the six fonts shown here. When ordering, you can indicate your choice: without a name (standard) or with name and the font of your choice. The name may be up to 20 characters long, including spaces. The delivery time is slightly longer, shipping within 10 days after we have received the desired name and font.
